A Message From Our Headteacher...
I am delighted to be able to introduce myself to you as the new Head Teacher of Winslow CE Combined School.
It is important to me that I share with you my vision for the future of this school, as we journey together towards providing outstanding outcomes for all our pupils, establishing ourselves as the school of choice.
My background and training is in English and the performing arts, including music, which remain very important to me. I have worked for three different Local Authorities during my teaching career, during which time I have taught children from FS2 to Y6. I have extensive experience of school leadership and management, having been on Senior Leadership Teams in four different schools;most recently as the Head Teacher of Stone CE Combined School near Aylesbury.
My passion and vision for quality education is clear. I demand the very highest expectations from everyone who works with children. It is important to aim for nothing short of outstanding outcomes for all pupils, whilst concentrating on the individual, encouraging and nurturing personal interests and giving the time to discover individual gifts. A school must create a learning environment and establish a love of learning so that pupils gain an enthusiasm for learning that remains throughout life. All pupils should achieve their full potential across a wide and varied curriculum, including academic, artistic and athletic studies.
At Winslow, we will work hard to ensure our pupils experience the richness of the cultural world. Pupils will learn and consolidate good Christian values as they develop independence, learn to work as part of a team and discover what it means to be a good citizen.
As you would expect, exemplary behaviour will be expected from the whole school community. Good home / school communication and partnership will also be expected and welcomed, so that any academic, pastoral or behavioural issues can be addressed as early as possible and our pupils can receive the best possible support towards making good progress. We will expect all pupils to try their very best at all times whilst we both challenge and support them. We will also champion those pupils who need additional support, as every pupil is important.
There are a number of immediate changes that I will be making, including the introduction of half termly 'Parent Surgeries'. These are an opportunity for parents/carers to speak to the Head Teacher and / or a member of the Senior Leadership team about issues or concerns that are non urgent. No appointments will be necessary. Surgery dates will be announced in the first newsletter of the year.
This is an exciting time for Winslow CE Combined School. It is my intention to lead this school on the next stage of its journey towards achieving outstanding outcomes for all our pupils. We must work together for this success to be achieved, so I am looking forward to getting to know you and your children over the coming months and working closely with you throughout your child's time at this school.
Yours faithfully
Simon Rose
